Simone Clifton, CAIN-RHNP™, CHC, CN, Hormone Health Specialist
Hello, qathet/Powell River
It is with great privilege to share my passion for holistic health and wellness with you.
As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist with over a decade of experience, I am dedicated to empowering individuals to uncover the root causes of imbalance and achieve lasting vitality. My approach is compassionate, tailored, and grounded in the belief that true wellness is about nourishing every aspect of your being: body, mind, and spirit.
I specialize in hormone health, including support through the transitions of perimenopause and menopause, as well as childhood nutrition, with a focus on supporting neurodivergent children and adults, as well as those dealing with eating disorders. Additionally, I work with individuals managing a range of health challenges, such as autoimmune conditions, digestive imbalances like IBS and SIBO, mood disorders linked to gut health, and skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Whether navigating chronic fatigue, brain fog, or sleep disturbances, each client’s journey is unique. I take pride in creating personalized strategies that are both practical and empowering, aimed at restoring balance and supporting long-term wellness.
To me, health is a journey of connection with your body, your environment, and your potential. Symptoms are not roadblocks but invitations to understand what your body needs to thrive. My role is to guide and support you as we work together to restore balance and build a foundation for lifelong wellness.
Recently, my family and I moved to qathet, drawn by its breathtaking natural beauty and the sense of community here. My husband and I feel incredibly grateful to raise our two children in a place where the ocean and forest meet, offering endless opportunities to explore, connect, and grow. We also feel deeply privileged to reside and work with appreciation on the ancestral lands and traditional territory of the Tla’amin Nation (ʔayʔaǰuθəm). This incredible place inspires us to live in greater harmony with nature, ourselves, and each other.
In addition to working with clients, I love sharing my knowledge through workshops and talks, creating nourishing recipes, and exploring the stunning nature of qathet. Whether hiking forest trails, practising Pilates, or spending time with loved ones, I find joy in the simple yet profound ways we can nurture ourselves.
I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your wellness story. Together, we can take meaningful steps towards a healthier, more vibrant you.

Miriam’s interest in health and wellness began at the ripe old age of twelve. As is often the case, her own struggles led to a passionate view of health as our greatest asset. Her motivation is found in the belief that if we can support our bodies in doing what they were made to do, our bodies will support us in living our most fulfilled lives.
After taking a Yoga Teacher Training in the jungles of Costa Rica in 2015 and receiving a certificate in CSNN’s Introduction to Holistic Nutrition in 2020, Miriam enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program with the NTA - Nutritional Therapy Association - and graduated in September of 2024.
During this comprehensive course Miriam learned how to approach health from a deeply foundational perspective. She looks at stress, digestion, blood sugar regulation, diet, and sleep, and creates an individualized protocol to support her clients’ health goals. She also appreciates the enormous impact the nervous system has on whole body wellness and works with this ever in mind.
Miriam believes that our bodies know how to heal, and encourages clients to see health as a relationship rather than a destination. “Symptoms” are simply the language our body speaks. A huge piece of the puzzle is learning this language so we can meet our bodies wherever they’re at and support them in the most impactful way. By offering this point of view, Miriam hopes to empower her clients to take their health back into their own hands and thrive.
Born in Vancouver, but raised in qathet, Powell River from nine years old, Miriam hails as an honourary local. She loves spending her free time with family and friends, out in nature - especially by the ocean or in the forest - practicing yoga, reading, dancing, singing, cuddling her senior dog, and furthering her education.

Our bodies have an incredible capacity for healing, adaptation, and resilience. This is a key concept that guides Ilya’s practice as he
works with each patient to address their specific concerns and develop a well-rounded treatment approach to help them reach their health goals.
Ilya graduated from the RMT program at Vancouver Career College in December 2016 but his passion for cultivating health and wellness extends much further back. Whether it was martial arts, resistance training, yoga, or rock climbing, Ilya has always been involved in some form of physical
activity, which has given him a broad scope of understanding and appreciation for the body’s capabilities, limitations, and - of course - injuries. Drawing
on this experience, combined with 3 years of practice as an RMT in both a clinical and spa setting, Ilya’s treatments are a blend of therapeutic modalities and relaxation-focused massage. Techniques like myofascial and trigger point release, joint mobilizations and swedish massage commonly make their way into his treatments. In addition, Ilya endeavors to educate and encourage his patients to take control of their health through self-care including movement, stretching, and exercise, as well as getting to the root of why people experience the pains and aches that they have.
Born in Russia but having spent most of his life in Vancouver, Ilya discovered Powell River only a few years ago along his travels throughout beautiful British Columbia. Being an avid outdoorsman and drawn to the breathtaking yet laid-back charm of the coast, Powell River is now a place Ilya is excited to call his home. Outside of the clinic, Ilya spends much of his free time hiking & backpacking, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and more recently, cultivating his green thumb.

Dr Barbara Cook
Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Barb is a new addition to the sunshine coast. Having spent most of her life in the Comox Valley, she is chasing the small town vibe and feeling of community.
Barb completed the Doctoral Program of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2003. Her prior careers were in kinesiology and prosthetics. All aspects of her life have revolved around health, fitness, and nature. Mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and yoga are her main passions.
Being drawn to Traditional Chinese Medicine was based on personal health issues that western medicine was only able to put a bandaid on. TCM treats the root cause and underlying issues of the body, mind, and environment. The medicine is based on TCM organ patterns and diagnosis. Everyone is unique. Any condition from anxiety, insomnia, hormones, or pain can be treated using therapies such as acupuncture, custom herbal formulas, tui na (Chinese massage), cupping, and/or gua sha (skin scraping).

Hello qathet community,
I feel deeply honoured to be offering my practice and holding a safe and supportive space in this community. I completed my Bachelors of Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology at the University of British Columbia in 2020. Since then I have continued to pursue a deeper understanding of health and wellness and how we can nurture our mind, body, and spirit in a holistic way. Ultimately this led me to complete my Manual Osteopathic Therapy program through the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada.
Osteopathic therapy is an art and a science, rooted in a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology and the interrelatedness of all body systems. Osteopathy is concerned with supporting the body’s innate ability to self-heal and regulate through gentle hands on treatment. It is used to reverse mechanical shifts that have occurred in the body over time from physical, emotional, and spiritual trauma. Manual osteopathic therapy aims to treat the root cause of dysfunction to restore balance to all body systems.
Osteopathic therapy can help with a wide range of conditions including but not limited to injury recovery, postural imbalances, low back pain, sciatica, pelvic imbalances, digestive issues, whiplash, headaches, sleep disturbances, stress, and anxiety. Treatment involves an integrated approach, working with the musculoskeletal framework, the fascia, the viscera, and the lymphatic, and nervous systems.
It’s important to me to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all. The values that I continually orient towards in my practice include curiosity, openness, compassion, empathy, and patience.
I was born and raised in northern BC and moved to the beautiful sunshine coast three years ago. What nourishes my heart and soul outside of this work includes spending time in nature, hiking, kayaking, gardening, and making art.
If you have any questions, curiosities or would like to know more about how I practice, please send me an email at owlscryosteopathy@gmail.com.
